Straight answers from real plumbers. No jargon, no nonsense.
Plumbing Emergencies
Don't panic, but act quickly. Your absolute first step is to turn off the main water supply at the stopcock (usually located under the kitchen sink, in a hallway cupboard, or sometimes outside). If the water is near any electrical fittings, turn off your electricity at the mains too. Then, open your cold taps to drain the system and call us immediately.
Gas leaks are serious. Turn off the gas supply at the meter immediately. Open all windows and doors to ventilate the property. DO NOT turn any electrical switches on or off, don't smoke, and don't light matches. Call the National Gas Emergency Service, and then call us — our Gas Safe engineers are trained for exactly this scenario.
Yes, absolutely. We run a genuine 24/7 rota. We don't use a call centre that just takes messages; you'll speak to an actual plumber who is awake, dressed, and ready to jump in the van. Plumbing disasters don't respect office hours, and neither do we.
Pricing & Guarantees
Never. We think call-out fees are unfair. We'll come to your property, assess the situation, and give you a fixed quote for the repair. If you decide not to go ahead, you owe us absolutely nothing. You only pay for the work we actually do.
We operate on a transparent pricing model. Before we unscrew a single pipe, we'll explain exactly what the problem is and how much it will cost to fix it. The price we quote is the price you pay. No hidden "materials markups" or surprise hourly rate additions.
Yes, we stand behind everything we do. We provide a full written guarantee for our workmanship. If the same issue crops up again shortly after we've supposedly fixed it, we'll come back and make it right at our own expense. We rely heavily on word-of-mouth in Edinburgh, so making sure you're happy is our top priority.
Boilers & Heating
Usually, it's one of two things: a water leak somewhere in the heating system (often a tiny weep from a radiator valve that evaporates before you see a puddle), or a failure of the pressure relief valve/expansion vessel inside the boiler itself. We can trace the fault and fix it; don't just keep topping it up endlessly, as this dilutes the rust inhibitor in the system.
Yes, it's illegal to work on gas appliances without being Gas Safe registered. Every single engineer we employ carries a current Gas Safe ID card. We will happily show it to you at the door before entering — in fact, we prefer it when customers ask.
